A visit with our “discarded” treasures

How rusty saints are restored to former splendor.
An unconventional “show project”. Does it have potential?

Paulus oder Petrus

It is now more than 50 years since the last members of the Mesner family left the ancient walls of St. Oswald. Now, the former “Mesner Tower” is being transformed into a different kind of home: a home for those who were moved out of the church more than 100 years ago – the “discarded” saints that once resided in the baroque interior.

Countless times, they were relocated from one storage room to another, and even now, rusty and damaged, they bide their time in the church’s upper sacristy. But not for much longer.
Freshly restored and cleaned, these figures will now be “resurrected” and become storytellers in their own right, bringing together past, present and future aspects of the lives and belief systems of local miners.

Have we sparked your curiosity? If so, be sure to follow our project!
